Georgia Panel is a small but growing firm located in metro Atlanta that was built to serve the design and engineering needs of contractors engaged in off-site commercial construction.  Our team of trained architects and engineers understands the unique design requirements for successful prefabrication of building exteriors.

We are currently seeking a licensed professional engineer with significant experience in cold-formed steel framing design to join our Snellville, Georgia office. This position offers valuable experience within a small firm leading the way in the fast-growing field of prefabricated construction design and engineering.

Responsibilities:

Prefab Engineering Team Leader responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural engineering of cold formed steel framing for prefabrication of exterior walls (primarily non-loadbearing).
  • Preparing engineering calculations and submittals.
  • Assisting with various aspects of project development including engineering analysis, document prep and checking, client contact, and light office duties.
  • Code research – pertinent to building structures and exterior components and cladding.
  • Review of engineering calculations and fabrication drawings and details.
  • Fostering positive relationships with clients and other project team members.
  • Development and improvement of office engineering standards and procedures.
  • Evaluate novel construction materials and claddings for offsite construction suitability.
  • Occasional field observation of work on construction sites or in fabrication shops.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Civil or structural engineer licensed in at least one U.S. state.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design. Capable of working independently as a cold formed steel engineer.
  • Strong working knowledge of cold-formed steel framing analysis software
  • Working knowledge of RISA-3D, CFS Designer, and Revit or AutoCAD a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand Architectural, Structural, and other trades drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to safely navigate active construction sites, including walking on uneven surfaces and around ongoing work.
  • Legally entitled to work in the U.S. without sponsorship both now and in the future.
  • Local to office location.  Relocation assistance may be provided.
